The Urban Air Quality Project (UAQP) has been performed as part of the "Hot Spots" Priority Field of Action of SMAP (Short And Medium-Term Priority Environmental Action Programme), the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership programme for Mediterranean Environment Protection. The purpose of the SMAP UAQP is air quality improvement in: Al-Fayhaa (Lebanon), Larnaca (Cyprus), Lemesos (Cyprus), Tétouan (Morocco). Areas in which activities have been performed in pursuit of the SMAP UAQP purpose and its sustainability include: Air Quality Training Programmes, Air Quality Services & Laboratories, Urban Air Quality Plans, Urban Mobility Plans, Air Quality Communications & Collaboration. The full title of the SMAP UAQP is "Urban Air Quality Improvement through Air Quality and Mobility Long-Term Plans and the Institutional Strengthening of National and Local Administrations on Air Quality." Financial assistance for the project has been provided by the EuropeAid COffice of the European Commission (79%). Project coordination was performed by ICAEN (Catalan Energy Institute). |
